The Sun Store pharmacy in Cossonay offers a comprehensive service for private customers and care homes. The team prepares the medication for the residents of EMS La Veillée SA centrally in the pharmacy. In order to be able to ideally harmonise their own processes for preparing medication with the needs of the care home, those responsible turned to Wiegand AG.
The retirement home was already working with Wiegand’s medication distribution system. As they were satisfied with the existing system, it was out of the question for those responsible at the home to replace the system they were using. The Sun Store team searched for commercially available transport boxes for transporting the prepared medicine dispensers, but could not find any suitable products on the market.
As the existing WIEGAND TransportBox system could not be used for the MediDispensers used in the retirement home, a joint search was carried out for an alternative.
The requirements of the Sun Store pharmacy and the care home were clear: the care home’s medication dispensers should be collected directly from the pharmacy each week on the weekly tray, labelled with the medication and delivered safely to the care home without repacking. It is important that the medication dispensers cannot slip or fall out during transport. The weekly trays with the MediDispensers should be easy to load into and remove from the transport box. The transport box must be compact, not too heavy and easy to handle and fit into a “standard” vehicle.
The transport box specially developed by Wiegand for the weekly trays 491 and 991 fulfils all the requirements of the Sun Store pharmacy and the retirement home and ensures safe transport and easy handling of the externally directed medication in the Wiegand medication distribution system. The new external straightening process has been smoothly introduced at the pharmacy and the EMS La Veillée SA retirement home. The pharmacy and those responsible at the retirement home are very satisfied with the Wiegand solution.
