Medication management at the private clinic is tailored to internal need, with processes designed for sustainability. All medications are centrally managed and stored. For the wards in different buildings, the medication is removed from the original packaging and repackaged in the labelled PharmaBoxes. The PharmaBoxes are labelled with medication information and expiration dates, making it easy to organize them alphabetically in the medication storage cabinet. Each ward uses two PharmaBoxes in rotation, functioning as a type of Kanban system. Once one PharmaBox is empty, it is returned to the central pharmacy, where it is refilled and prepared again. The main advantage is not only the visibility of the contents but also the efficient storage management in the wards. Physicians’ prescriptions are taken into account to keep ward inventory efficient. This approach is not only sustainable but also reduces long-term costs and saves resources.
In the respective wards, medications are prepared daily for patients, as patient stays and prescriptions can change on short notice. The management at the Hohenegg Private Clinic has adjusted the processes to internal conditions and requirements. This helps maintain the necessary flexibility while still operating efficiently.
